They look almost identical to the MK1919 but £150 more expensive! Plus no mention of a 10rd mag which would be essential for PSG.

I'm holding out for a Bora 99 which are even cheaper than the MK1919 (I am Northern after all )

The Falken does look interesting and as it's German it should be better built . However, as pointed out, it's a lot more money than the Bora for what would be a 'fun gun'.

Ahh. Well, think I'll join the list of people waiting to see how the Bora and the Falken do before taking the plunge.

I missed this thread, and was about to start one similar for all things Bora Barak / MKA 1919.


Here is what I have found out after a couple of weeks banging around on different forums and the Internet as a whole.

The MKA's can have the stock cut off and replaced with a AR style stock of your choosing. As can the pistol grip. Once gone neither can be replaced, so I would imagine there goes your warranty. All you need is a band saw and some confidence and hope that no one catches you sawing the stock of a shotgun!

There is much talk of the 10 round mags falling out, however it is well reported that if you file the hole in the magazine to-wards the top of the mag, it will then lock in every time.

Getting in to the action area is not easy, requiring the stock to be taken off. However if you think about any semi SG, other than the AK types, you cant get in to them either. The Barrel comes off the same way as most semi's with the nut on the fore grip keeping it all together. I suspect that the lower and upper not coming apart with two pins is more a mind game than a real issue.

Looking at the American 3 gun guys running these, they have all chopped them away, really only keeping the trigger mech housing and magazine well. It seems a shame to buy something to then throw half of it in the bin.

The Bora would appear to be built at a different factory and is a beefed up version. I understand that some of the internals are the same but the trigger and body work are not. I would hope that equates to a better trigger.
The but stock and pistol grip on these can not be cut off so you need to be sure you like them. Apparently they have made it easier to access the two half's of the main body, but you still need to go through the stock to do this.
The AR style carry handle has 4 different types of rear sight, and is reported to be OK but it is made from plastic. The fore sight can be removed and I suspect that many would replace with a flick up style front and rear for a "tactical" look" and mount some kind of optic.

The fore end on the MKA and Bora can be swapped with custom fore ends like the Tooth and Nail (T&N) metal replacements with a variety of rail and length options. However you need to specify which model you have as they are slightly different - with the MKA having two variants.

I would be interested to see who is selling the Boras so cheaply.
So far I have found the following on sale in the UK.

Cactus Arms did sell a number with T&N parts but he has no Internet site and has not replied to any emails in a fortnight.
Dolphin Arms is selling a German (?) version of the MKA called the Falken. Despite much research I can find no mention of this anywhere other than Q's about what Mik is selling.

Finally Low Mill Ranges is advertising the Bora on Guntrader for £695.

I contacted Peter at LMR this evening and asked him about T&N parts and 10 round mags. It would appear that Peter is investing a lot in these guns. He is the UK dealer for the Bora, and I think he said the MKA as well, he is certainly stocking the MKA's.
He is in the process of completing the paperwork to bring in the custom bits from T&N and I believe he said he already has some bits and 10 round mags. I might be getting confused there.
One way or another, I think Peter may well be getting some of my cash come early spring, just need to shift one or two from my FAC and get the December bills out of the way.

All of the packages come with 2 x 5 round mags and a set of choke keys.

Too late to edit the above.

The Bora is designed to handle a better range and length of cartridges, with a self adjusting gas system. It takes the same MKA magazines. All cartridge lengths feed from the same magazine - apparently.

The MKA is well documented for not feeding the lighter loads very well from new and needs a good 100 or so rounds through it before it loosens up. The Bora is suppose to feed well from the start.

Quite a good add for the Bora, lots of pictures.

I understand the Bora foregrip covers the main body by around 1/4 of an inch, so if you replace it you will have a small gap. I am not sure what the rail is made from, I have a horrible feeling it might be plastic.

Good info I think i'll probably go for one in the spring too, my Supernova has only been used 5-6 times since i got it 2 years ago so its just taking up cabinet space

There's a couple of people running them over on f4i forum and they seem to rate them better than the Akdal's, apparently the 10rd mags from the Akdals fit.

Bradley arms are also selling them
