SGC Question

As I've just discovered recently, this is not the case (according to my FLO). Apparently you need an RFD to do the conversion, it's also possible it will need to be re-proofed but that's up for debate.

I've been told an RFD needs to do the conversion too. What, unscrew and screw-in a tube? Really? Oh well.

No proofing required though.

Beware, the number of S2 shotguns you can hold may be restricted by your local FET. My local team have been known to impose a cap of three shotguns to new SGC holders.

Did they go as far as mentioning which part of which firearms act they were using to impose the 'cap', or as per usual just making it up as they went along? :cool2:

That would be the latter Mark and it was not something imposed on either of us however other SGC owners have reported this on a few occasions.

Seriously though , for all the valid points.

FYI:
I do have a Sec1 slot free on my FAC
There's no 'cap' on my SGC
I'm aware that buying a Sec1 directly will probably be cheaper, I just want the ability to go down the Sec2 conversion route in case I see a bargain
Didn't know some forces want a Sec2 to Sec1 change only done by an RFD....will definitely be giving Gwent a call about this

I'm in pretty much the exact same position you are in, and by the time I factor in parts, RFD time/costs I've yet to find a decent pump action at a price that justifies the hassle of an S2/S1 switch- if anything S1s tend to be a good bit cheaper (limited market).
