The originals had 25.5" barrels and the newly manufactured have 22" barrels.

The Norincos I've seen were fitted with 22" barrels. It did make me think "why?". If the option was available and for what these were intended for. Surely 18" barrels would have given them a bit more of a "gotta get me one of those"!!!!!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

This might be a bit of thread resurrection but I've just realised in my pondering of 'What to apply for' regarding my FAC that technically under UK Law, this is legal.

18.5 inch barrel, 27.5 inch overall length.

I'll see if I can import one in from Italy or somewhere else on the continent or try and modify a cheap Chiappa/Norinco into one.

My view is it has a magazine so the 24"/40" OAL rule would apply however I have read a couple of recent articles suggesting under lever shotguns can be on a section 1 at 12"/24" OAL, quite how is beyond me however my experience is only with Pump and S/A S1 Shotguns so 24/40

Best to check with your FEO.

The Ammendment Act stipulates the combination of barrel and OAL only for pump and semi shotguns, whether S1 or 2. All other S1 shotguns only have to conform to 12/24.

Likewise, S2 only stipulate barrel length in this regards and not OAL. You could have a SxS 12ga with 24.1" barrels and a pistol grip only.

There were a load of single barrel .410 folding shotguns knocking around ages ago that had a pistol grip only with a 24" barrel and were sold as "Ratters" on s2.

Correct.

Yet again, the document in my signature explicitly answers this.

I believe Norinco and Chiappa 1887 repro's have been on with 22 inch barrels and being as they are levers and not pumps or semis, good to go with less than a 24 inch barrel. However Said Lever's are only really popular in Australia as Sandgroper will attest to due to a ban on pumps and semis for everywhere bar Western Australia and the Northern Territories for anybody other than a farmer. They don't handle 12 bore 3/4 inch shells very well since they were made when 2.5 inch shells were the norm. So get those if you want it. A gunsmith in South Aus does work on them but its a bit far to get work done and importing stuff in and out of Aus is a pain. If you want a new hi cap shotgun just buy a Molot from Rusmilitary. People from St Austell to Alabama have since realized that the sanctions didn't really include Molot unlike Saiga so expensive but you won't get in trouble for buying it. Or find a good second saiga. If you still want a lever action. Western shooting supplies in South wales has the Chiappa version.

According to the firearms act the Terminator version is good to go.

No, because it needs a 24" barrel for s2 and the Marlin .410 is 22". The Winchester 9410 is available as a s2, if you can find one.
