I just stumbled across this article on the 'welrod' type pistol produced by Brugger & Thomet. I'm genuinely surprised they had a business case to develop this!

The better option would be a High Standard .22, or even a Ruger Mk.II .22; as they both work well without the drama that the Welrod mechanism adds to the mix; and that was only one of the faults I found with it
