Indeed.

For my 'fun' .22 slot to be filled in the near future, I'm toying with the idea of a Chiappa M1-22 as their timber furniture is interchangeable with original M1 carbine stuff, and a used half decent set of original M1 carbine wood from the USA is a few hundred dollars.......you can retro fit the repro folding stock Airborne stock/grips to the Chiappa as well if desired razz

Of course, there is the fabulous GSG Stg44 as an alternative :D

Decisions, decisions......
Yep - agree about the M1 look but I've heard the Chiappa has a bit of a 'plasticky' feel.
I'd suggest an Erma EM1 if you can find one. I got lucky a few weeks back and got hold of one and the build quality is spot on.
Not sure if it's still for sale found a ERMA M1 Carbine with Sling and Mag Pouch for £275 at http://gunshop-eb.com/Rimfirerifles.php
If anyone is after one.

Despite being a dedicated long distance shooter I am a bit of a fan of older rimfires and this is one of my current favourites at present. No doubt things will change as we have some more interesting things coming in next month. Personally I would have the armoury stuffed full of pre 1970 rimfires given the chance :)

it's a Russian Izhmash 22 biathlon rifle
Very nice one Blaireau !! :good:
I have been lusting after a second-hands one of those for ages without any luck . I guess they are that good that owners dont part with them unless they stop the discipline & since there are not many biathlon competitors in the uk ...

Good spot! They have a voere in as well which I noticed was discussed a while back, riflemags seem to have magS in for the voere as well although they're nearly as much as the rifle!

You should be able to pick up a Voere magazine for around GBP20 for the 10 round and maybe a fiver more for the 15. I know the Viking spent quite a while getting her 15 to feed smoothly and has cracked it at last. They are impressively accurate as well.

I'm wondering about the CZ 512... uses the same mags as my 455 and seems pretty reliable and accurate

how much for mags wtf wtf wtf
Might be able to help there!
After having a heart attack looking for Erma M1 mags, I've bought a few from Germany and Austria for myself just waiting to get them in the post. Still expensive but not quite as much as UK prices even when delivery is factored in.
If they arrive ok, then I might buy some more in and put them in the 'For Sale' section in the next coule of weeks.
On the other hand, if they don't turn up, I've been ripped off a couple of hundred quid.... ****

10/22 complete rimfire Lego! Don't like something? Change it.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Agreed, and the shop mentioned today that they're getting a cheap one in.
And they have an ati AR-15 chassis type idea which has been on the shelf for years...
