Why on earth would anyone want a .338 Lapua Magnum just to shoot at 100yds.
Never argue with an idiot, he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

It's a macho thing.

I think you will struggle to claim your "genuine need" to the police considering you can't find anywhere suitable to shoot it. I would recommend finding somewhere to shoot and disciplines you enjoy and then see which calibers are suitable for both, rather than the other way around.

He's literally already provided 2 ranges he knows about where he can shoot it, and as far as I can tell is just asking about other venues, and hasn't said he'd want to shoot it at 100m 5mith

As an add on to this, Silverstone is rated for both 338LM and 50 CAL but rifles must be moderated. You also have to be a member there to shoot.

SILVER MEMBERSHIP £599pa
Unlimited access to all targets and all ranges at all mid week opening times. No other range fees. Access at weekends subject to members discounted standard hourly rates (£20 per hour)

GOLD MEMBERSHIP £699 pa
Unlimited access to all targets and all ranges at all opening times, no range fees.

Oh and their ranges are .

A - 50 mtrs

B - 50 mtrs

C - 50 mtrs

Range 1 - 100 mtrs

Range 2 - 100 mtrs

Seems like a nice little earner for a range that only has a maximum range of 100 mtrs

In fairness the facilities that have/are in the process of being built there are brilliant. Still way more than I would be willing to pay though.

Also have MoD LYDD down South. The range targets there are great!!! Also considered a .338 LM for myself but the lack of ranges do put me off...
